Lost Weave – Jan Kath’s Latest Collection Arrives in Vancouver

We are excited to announce a gorgeous new arrival from acclaimed German rug designer Jan Kath – Lost Weave 5.

The Lost Weave collection was unveiled earlier this year in Germany at Domotex  2013. Inspired by the “boucheroite”- Moroccan Arabic for “torn clothing”- carpets of Moroccan weavers,  with this latest collection Jan Kath intersects traditional handicraft with contemporary design affects. What results is a fascinating organic design handknotted in highland wool from Tibet, Chinese Silk and nettle fiber.

5th Annual Western Living Designer of the Year Awards

Colin Campbell was proud to be a sponsor of the 5th Annual Western Living Designer of the Year Awards held at the gorgeous SALT building on September 13th. Over 600 of Vancouver’s design elite were on hand to celebrate the achievements of this year’s award winners – representing the best in fashion, interior, industrial and architectural design in Western Canada.

Guests were intrigued by our gothic crow themed display featuring two new stunning hand-knotted carpet designs by Zoe Luyendijk – Bella Aqua from the Blooming Collection and Cairo from the Bzod Maat Collection – carpets inspired by the wildness in nature and in ourselves.

Check out some pics from the event!

Why Wool?

Wool is the natural and eco-friendly choice for carpet. Here’s why:

  • Wool Looks Better Longer
Wool not only wears longer, it also keeps its good appearance and stays looking fresh longer. Each wool fiber is made up of millions of coiled springs that stretch and adjust so it won’t lose its ability to spring back in traffic areas. With a greater life expectancy, wool will maintain its newness and original appearance longer.
  • Wool is Environmentally Friendly
Wool is a completely natural and renewable resource that is biodegradable. Wool, readily biodegrades in soil because wool breaks down into plant nutrients such as nitrogen, sulphur, carbon dioxide and water.
  • Wool Improves Indoor Air Quality
Wool fibre is too long and coarse to be inhaled. It’s natural, non-allergenic fiber does not promote the growth of bacteria or dust mites, which is good news for asthma sufferers and people with allergies. Unlike synthetic fibers, wool absorbs contaminants in the air like formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide.
  • Wool Resists Dirt
Its ability to absorb moisture prevents a build-up of static electricity and therefore wool does not attract lint and dust from the air. Also, the crimp in the wool fibres assist in keeping dirt from penetrating the surface and also makes it easier to clean.
  • Wool is Warmer in the Winter and Cooler in the Summer
Tests show the insulating properties of wool can cut heat loss by 13%. It can also help keep you cool by its ability to absorb 30% its weight in humidity without feeling damp or wet.
  • Wool Resists Static
Because wool naturally absorbs moisture from the air, the tendency to collect static electricity is reduced. Walking across a wool carpet, you are less likely to receive a shock when you touch a grounded object.
  • Wool Insulates Against Noise
Wool is a wonderful insulator against noise. Wool absorbs sound and reduces noise level considerably.
  • Wool Is Fire Resistant
Wool is the most naturally flame resistant fiber. It does not have to be specially treated to become non-flammable. It is difficult to ignite and has a low flame spread and heat release properties.

We can’t stop raving about BZOD, the fabulous new Zoë Luyendijk collection that has landed in our Vancouver showroom.

Exclusive to Colin Campbell – the artistry and quality of these hand-knotted rugs is in keeping with Zoë’s signature contemporary style, but feature two-colour designs that are easily customizable.

Besides their obvious beauty, we love these rugs because they can be produced in under four months & they feature lower price points than Zoë’s other studio collections.
